Makan Malam YB Pehin Menteri Pendidikan di Singapura


During the working visit To Singapore, YB Pehin also hosted a dinner for the Brunei government scholarship students and MOE officials undergoing in-service training in Singapore. The event was held on 30 January 2010 at Grand Hyatt Hotel.

In his speech during the dinner, YB Pehin advised the students to study hard and asserted that there are no short cuts to achieve success except through hard work. Pehin also encouraged the MOE officials undergoing in-service training to adopt what they learn from the leadership and management course to share and improve schools in Brunei Darussalam.

YB Pehin also reminded the students never to forget their roots, that they are Bruneians and to practice MIB as a platform in life wherever they are.

Currently, there are 21 Brunei Government scholarship students studying at various institutions in Singapore including the NUS High School of Maths and Science, Temasek Polytechnic, Republic Polytechnic and National Institute of Education. Meanwhile there are 11 education officers undergoing in-service training in various programmes including post-graduate certificate of education, diploma and PhD.

The Ministry of Education of both countries signed an MOU on Cooperative Education on 14 February 2006. A Joint Working Group (JWG) was established to monitor the progress of the MOU. Since the signing of the MOU, active cooperation in education had been established at primary, secondary, technical and vocational and also higher education level.

Singapore also extends assistance in various educational sectors to Brunei Darussalam. The Ministry of Education Brunei Darussalam is expected to host a JWG meeting in March this year.
