M’san Minister To Visit Brunei

Bandar Seri Begawan - Malaysian Education Minister Datuk Seri Hishammuddin Tun Hussein will make a visit to Brunei tomorrow in his capacity as the president of the Southeast Asian Ministers of Education Organisation (Seameo), Malaysian press reported.


Datuk Seri Hishammuddin will visit the Seameo Regional Centre for Vocational and Technical Education and Training and attend an audience with His Majesty the Sultan and Yang Di-Pertuan of Brunei Darussalam, according to a statement from Malaysia's Ministry of Education.
The minister, who is also going in the capacity of a member of the United Nations Education, Science and Culture Organisation (UNESCO) executive board, will be studying the best practices in education implemented in Brunei. Datuk Seri Hishammuddin's visit to Brunei is preceded by a visit to the Philippines.

On Hishammuddin's agenda would he discussions

on Israel's ongoing conflict with Palestine.
"It is my responsibility as president, together with my colleagues from Seameo member countries, to stand united and protest any violence involving the death of many lives, especially innocent children," he said in a press statement yesterday.

Leaders of Seameo had a commitment to ensure that the younger generation had a bright future, he said.


Hishammuddin, who is also a UNESCO executive board member, said he would discuss Unesco's agendas such as Education For All, following the memorandum of understanding signed between UNESCO and Seameo last year.

Datuk Seri Hishammuddin said he was positive the visit would strengthen bilateral ties between Malaysia and the two countries.
